Cebam in Geneva: GIN-conference 2025

Cebam was active again during the GIN-conference 2025, 16th - 19th September. There was a workshop on Wednesday, - "Bridging gaps in health information: developing and validating a tool for the assessment of information for laypeople with input from patient representatives, healthcare providers, and methodologists" - and an oral presentation on Thursday: "Assessing the Reliability of Health Information Websites for the General Public".

Workshop Bridging gaps in health information: developing and validating a tool for the assessment of information for laypeople with input from patient representatives, healthcare providers, and methodologists

In Room K Anne-Catherine Vanhove was leading a very interesting Workshop, with the help of Catherine Pétein and Gerlinde Lenaerts. This workshop provided participants with an overview of existing assessment tools and key insights into developing new ones. Additionally, participants actively contributed to the development of a new assessment tool for layperson-directed health information.
The workshop featured small discussion groups for feedback collection on several parts of the tool.

Assessing the Reliability of Health Information Websites for the General Public

In Room Delta Iona Vermet brought an oral presentation within "Theme 4. Building Trust in Science and Transforming Health Systems through Guidelines". She described the review process for websites for further reading. 
Her team works on a site called Gezondheid en Wetenschap. This website provides reliable information on health and diseases for the general public. Visitors seeking more information are referred to other websites. Iona and her team enhanced the review process to make sure these websites are relevant, tailored to our visitors’ needs and above all reliable.
